Fashion Fair Cosmetics Will Need to Appeal to a Younger Audience

I don’t wear makeup everyday. It should be against the law to not wear it on special days, such as weddings and professional photos. I don’t care if it’s a dang family photo, put some makeup on.

Ok, I’m calm. I got that off of my chest. When I was a teenager. If I remember correctly I was in the tenth grade. That would make me about …ummm I was Fifteen  years of age. I graduate from high school at the age of seventeen. The first thing my mom allowed me to wear was lipstick. She didn’t allow a full face of makeup, but I don’t think I was interested in a full face. Lips and eyes is all I liked. I used the envelop a bit and begged to wear eye liner. I moved to eyeliner in the eleventh grade.

My mom introduced me to Fashion Fair cosmetics. It was a strictly created for women of color back in the day. It was founded in 1973. Mom took me to the mall and I tried on a few creamy lipsticks and fell in love with chocolate raspberry . It is a color that was long lasting, long before  so – called long lasting shades were created. It is a pink rather loud pink. It isn’t pale frosty pink or too red. I wore that lipstick with everything. I always received compliments whenever I would wear it.

The issue today: Fashion Fair ( FF) is disappearing from department stores. I’ve search and it is difficult to find a FF counter. Once I found it at Belk and I was elated. However, I was saddened by how no one ever came to the counter to help me. The FF counter didn’t have one soul attending to it. As I looked around the cosmetics department , other associates would look off when I tried to get their attention. Another thing that concerned me is the counter wasn’t as flattering as it’s predecessors. It was an embarrassment to the brand. I’ve always supported FF. It was a top seller when I was a teen and it was an awesome product.

The problem is teens think of FF as old lady makeup. Teens today think of makeup, more than likely they will look at NYX, LO’real, Too Faced, Rimmel, Urban Decay, Tarte, NARS & ELF to name a few. You know that I’m right. I see you nodding your head. Well, in my head you are.

Did you know Fashion Fair is an extension of Jet Magazine. Jet’s last subscription was in 2014, due to loss in revenue. They are looking into re branding. They’ve started by changing the pink compacts to a bronze more hip color. It doesn’t stop there. The website has received a facelift as well. Soon I expect to see more ads for FF. Although I’m one person, that is what it takes. At least one to start a movement. I believe in the brand. I only have one Youtube video, showing off my nearly used chocolate raspberry lipstick . I’ll be creating more videos on FF cosmetics. I can’t forget about our history together. Eventually I used the foundation, and lipstick.

Fashion Fair, is in need of the younger generation. Bring life back to FF, please. Frankly no one wants to see me wear Fashion Fair in an ad. I came from the times when it was hot to have a pink FF compact in my purse. I remember that little mirror. I glide on my chocolate raspberry lipstick. Child, I thought I was cute….hehe

This a current selfie shot of me at 48 years young. I have on chocolate raspberry lipstick, by Fashion Fair. Who says brown skin can’t wear pink?untitled-1500
