How To Look Classy And Sexy

untitled-1591Sex appeal comes from within. It starts with confidence . Next it’s your appearance.

Here are ways to look classy and have sexy.

Lets start with the top of your head and work our way down: Your hair should always look kemp and smell clean. The classy sexy lady has a simple  hairstyle. A straight, wavy, curly or messy  bob. It will look nice  long or short. It’s one of the most beautiful classic versatile hairstyles a woman of style and class could ever wear. No unnatural colors on the classy lady. Her hair is black, brown, brunette or blonde.  There are other styles. The high bun, low bun, the loose hair pulled back on the sides and front, while back hangs down. It’s a corporate look or a wedding look. If you don’t have any hair that’s no problem for the classy sexy woman.

Your makeup:  It isn’t a necessity, but if your going to wear it learn how to apply it properly.  You should look effortlessly put together. Natural tones will give you a soft, no makeup, makeup look as your daily wear.

Jewelry:  Dainty jewelry is very feminine. It looks soft and elegant against your skin, given off a  timeless beauty look. You appear to have taken the time to think about your appearance down to your delicate jewels. One of the most appealing jewelry is a thin necklace. The trio’s look tasteful as long as they are thin.

Clothes:  Should fit your perfectly and appeal to your body type, age and occasion. Watch the camel toe slacks and jeans. You don’t want to look as if your girl parts has entered the room alone. Skirts and dresses should be flattering in color, style and shape. Blouses shouldn’t show off too much boobage. If everyone is looking at your chest instead of your face, you need to change your blouse. The peekaboo tops…well find the trash can.

Nails:  Neat ,clean, short or medium length is for the classy sexy woman. The extreme long claws, curved or pointed isn’t for the grown and sexy. Leave the wild colors to the teens. You know, one nail is red, the other one is yellow, the next nail is green and the last nail has your initials on it.

Shoes:  Before purchasing your heels, you must be able to walk in them.   A pair that are 3.5 inches should be the limit. Especially if you’re in the  corporate world. Anything else just seems too impractical.  Platforms definitely don’t belong in the workplace.

This is only my personal opinion, please don’t get offended . If you like your look, I love it!

When Should You Purge Clothes From Your Closet?

Have you started to notice your closet is packed with all types of clothes you thought you’d wear? You have shoes, hats, swimsuits, sleeveless tops, sundresses and even a pair of sunnies you never touched. In fact two summers has gone by and you never worn them at all ( tags still on) or you wore them once.

It’s time to purge the closet from summer clothes. Anything you didn’t wear or barely wore the last two summers should  go! It’s closet rules. You may have bought it compulsively, because it was only $5 bucks. No matter the reason, the fact is you obviously  don’t like it that much. You may say, “well if I get rid of it, my closet will look bare.” You only need the things you want and love enough to wear. Are you still with me? Stay focused on summer clothes. Be brutally honest with yourself. You don’t need to impress anyone with a closet full of things you don’t find flattering enough to wear. I think you get the gist.

Clear out the summer things on a day, when you aren’t in a rush . Make sure you’re in the mood for it. Otherwise, you will not do a good assessment. In that pile of clothes, shoes and accessories should be things that never fit correctly in the first place. For instance the shoes with your heel hanging on the edge, the shoes thats too tight, sunnies you bought because Sarah bought a pair, the pants that are three sizes too small, because you were going to loose weight 5 years ago. You know that top is too big and you’ll never get it altered. Get out of here!!

Get a large trash bag and toss it all in. Nope, its not going to the garbage. There are tons of people that need these things. We just dealt with hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Do a good deed and donate. jakob-owens-91197onur-bahcivancilar-140823.jpg

A Mens Capsule Wardrobe

I’m doing a series of videos on mens capsule wardrobe on Youtube. You should really check me out ! I’m starting out really slow, but I’m warming up to some great content. The first video on the subject is about my favorite look out of every occasion, is the evening look. It’s just something about a man in a suit! Yeah, I know I’m hitched and all, but I’m speaking in general.

A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essentials that never go out of style.  The shirts, slacks, jackets and shoes. It’s the must haves in a mans closet  that should be obtained  to build around the non essentials.

I won’t go into much detail here.   check me out here on my channel and see what I have to say. I’d love for you to stop by and say hello. Leave a message in the comment section to inform me you are one of my wonderful beauties from my blog. I’d love to hear from you or read from you there. Hehehe…jason-briscoe-156643.jpg

The Boxy Cable Knit Sweater

Clothing should be a means to make you look and feel great. Weather you realize it or not, there are some mistakes you may be making. Its nice to have knowledge of the latest fashions, but everything you see in the magazines isn’t for everyone. Also be aware some things aren’t for anyone. Have you seen pieces such as that? it makes you wonder what the designer was thinking.

Since fall is creeping our way, lets look at the cable knit sweater. Its heavy, and admittedly it does the job to keep me warm. However, it can be one of the most strangest looking sweaters when worn. What happen to my waistline? It disappeared in the sweater. The cable knit is the most frumpy sweater one can wear for sure. Look at it paired with my Ann Taylor A-line skirt. The contrast is beautiful , but the look, not so much!

The sweater needs to fit tighter down the side of the seams.  It would have worked if it were lose fitting without the elastic at the hemline. Perhaps it would look nice with slits on each side of the sweater. This would cause it to drape the skirt more. This is too heavy of a sweater , it’s weighing me down. The sweater is a size small, but you’d never know by the fit. Never forget the female shape when choosing a sweater.  Remember quality over quantity. Choose your clothes wisely. They should always look flattering to your figure. untitled-1477

Keeping Your Social Media Platform Updated Can Be A full-time Job.

Apparently, there has been a huge internet penetration in the country.  Yes, Facebook is still the most popular network.  I’m not much of a fan of Facebook, but who asked me. The platforms that keep viewers engaged in an instant such as, Instagram , Twitter and the newest  platform Snapchat are climbing the charts. This is because we live in an instant society where everyone wants the quick and dirty fast!

Recently I started a brand new Youtube channel. Currently I only have 20 subscribers, but I manage my channel as if I have 20 million subscribers. It is humbling to me. My channel is more about who I am. As a wife and mother, it is easy for me to lose my soul . I have spent a large part of my life being a wife and mother. Its imperative to spend time enjoying some things I love. My channel also exemplifies  my sense of humor and how much of a fashionista  and germaphobe I am. You’ll see that I love iconic designer bags and timeless clothing pieces.

My latest video is on a seemingly very popular topic on Youtube for anyone that loves purses.  What’s In My Bag.  This is one of many videos to come. My goal is to gain an audience who appreciates positiveness and promotes self love.  I hope you can join me on my channelScreen Shot 2017-07-22 at 7.08.43 PM

Fashion Fair Cosmetics Will Need to Appeal to a Younger Audience

I don’t wear makeup everyday. It should be against the law to not wear it on special days, such as weddings and professional photos. I don’t care if it’s a dang family photo, put some makeup on.

Ok, I’m calm. I got that off of my chest. When I was a teenager. If I remember correctly I was in the tenth grade. That would make me about …ummm I was Fifteen  years of age. I graduate from high school at the age of seventeen. The first thing my mom allowed me to wear was lipstick. She didn’t allow a full face of makeup, but I don’t think I was interested in a full face. Lips and eyes is all I liked. I used the envelop a bit and begged to wear eye liner. I moved to eyeliner in the eleventh grade.

My mom introduced me to Fashion Fair cosmetics. It was a strictly created for women of color back in the day. It was founded in 1973. Mom took me to the mall and I tried on a few creamy lipsticks and fell in love with chocolate raspberry . It is a color that was long lasting, long before  so – called long lasting shades were created. It is a pink rather loud pink. It isn’t pale frosty pink or too red. I wore that lipstick with everything. I always received compliments whenever I would wear it.

The issue today: Fashion Fair ( FF) is disappearing from department stores. I’ve search and it is difficult to find a FF counter. Once I found it at Belk and I was elated. However, I was saddened by how no one ever came to the counter to help me. The FF counter didn’t have one soul attending to it. As I looked around the cosmetics department , other associates would look off when I tried to get their attention. Another thing that concerned me is the counter wasn’t as flattering as it’s predecessors. It was an embarrassment to the brand. I’ve always supported FF. It was a top seller when I was a teen and it was an awesome product.

The problem is teens think of FF as old lady makeup. Teens today think of makeup, more than likely they will look at NYX, LO’real, Too Faced, Rimmel, Urban Decay, Tarte, NARS & ELF to name a few. You know that I’m right. I see you nodding your head. Well, in my head you are.

Did you know Fashion Fair is an extension of Jet Magazine. Jet’s last subscription was in 2014, due to loss in revenue. They are looking into re branding. They’ve started by changing the pink compacts to a bronze more hip color. It doesn’t stop there. The website has received a facelift as well. Soon I expect to see more ads for FF. Although I’m one person, that is what it takes. At least one to start a movement. I believe in the brand. I only have one Youtube video, showing off my nearly used chocolate raspberry lipstick . I’ll be creating more videos on FF cosmetics. I can’t forget about our history together. Eventually I used the foundation, and lipstick.

Fashion Fair, is in need of the younger generation. Bring life back to FF, please. Frankly no one wants to see me wear Fashion Fair in an ad. I came from the times when it was hot to have a pink FF compact in my purse. I remember that little mirror. I glide on my chocolate raspberry lipstick. Child, I thought I was cute….hehe

This a current selfie shot of me at 48 years young. I have on chocolate raspberry lipstick, by Fashion Fair. Who says brown skin can’t wear pink?untitled-1500

Are You Driving Your Heels Crazy?

Have you ever thought about how much you really abuse your heels? A nice pair of heels cost at least ( average) $50.00 and you don’t give much thought about how to prolong the look and life of the shoe. This is all about taking pride in yourself from head to toe. Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up. Shoes are the most neglected part of a man and woman’s wardrobe. Today the focus is a woman’s pair of ( patent leather) heels. They are the finished look to any outfit.

Where do you store your heels? They should be neatly in a box, on a shelf or placed in a single file on the closet floor neatly. The way you care about them will prevent purchasing the same shoe over and over. Especially if it’s a basic patent leather heel. Normally patent leather isn’t worn often. Therefore, when you decide to wear them, they should always look polished. There shouldn’t be any deep scuffs, abrasions or damage to to the back of the heels. There isn’t anything worse than wearing beat up patent leather heels with a nice, beautiful dress. Don’t leave the house looking as if you’ve escaped  a blind date and you had to take off running, (literally on foot) to get away from him.

How to prevent your heels from looking like to drove them crazy:

  1. Always store your shoes in a neat, clean area.
  2. Make sure one shoe doesn’t disturb  the other while stored in a box; It creates scuff marks ( drives them nuts)
  3. When stepping onto a sidewalk or stairs, make sure the entire base of the shoe is completely away from the edge  of the side walk. You’ll end up with a hideous dent in the back of the heel.
  4. Never drive in your heels. The right shoe will have abrasive marks from carpet burn. ( one cute shoe and one ugly shoe..eww)
  5. Never keep heels in the trunk laying on it’s sides with junk piled on top of the heels. They will lose their shape and luster.
  6. Make sure you aren’t kicking the toe of your heels against your desk at work. The material will peel off and age your shoes in the worse way.
  7. Never walk on heels of the shoe with the front of the shoe in mid air. This ruins the taps on the shoes. ( Now they make sounds like an old car)
  8. Don’t allow anyone to borrow your heels. Not only is this unsanitary , but everyone walks in their shoes differently . They’ll end up worn in the opposite direction in which you walk. ( Just let her keep them)
  9. Don’t take long walks in them. They aren’t for exercise. You’ll ruin the sole.
  10. Make sure your shoe is the right size. Wearing shoes that are too large or too small adds stress to the shoe. ( Not to mention your feet )

Tip:

Have a pair of driving shoes in the car. The number one reason you drive your nice heel crazy, is because you burn them on the carpet.

Stop driving your shoes crazy! 🙂

Are Cheap Clothes Really Cheap?

i-m-priscilla-228220.jpgThere aren’t too  many people that would argue about clothes being expensive. Some people think if you shop for cheaper clothes you can expand your wardrobe faster with many selections. Expensive clothing may take more time to replenish the closet. This is all true. Should you pay less or more for your clothes is the question.

Have you every thought about buying  cheap clothes aren’t really cheap? In terms of the life you get from a cheaper brand of clothing versus a more expensive brand that could last you a lifetime. Have you ever had a beautiful blouse you’ve owned for over 10 years? Whenever you wear it you receive compliments as if you bought it yesterday. Perhaps it cost you a pretty penny and you are careful with the way you launder it. Proper laundering extends the life of a fabric as well as the quality of the fabric.  On the flip side, you bought this cheap trendy blouse and it makes you feel great for the moment. You are looking hip. Suddenly after laundering it may be three times it starts to look worn, the color is dull and the fabric is stretched and out of shape. It looks like you’ve had it for 50 years! The part it doesn’t fit you anymore. The cheap top cost you $8.00 and your other top  cost $80.00. Where is your savings?

You saved when you spent more for the nicer blouse. It has become an investment piece; not in a traditional since. Yet you can build upon that piece with a jacket, slacks, jeans or skirt. This can instantly become 5 outfits with a statement piece. It will last you for many years. This one blouse can see you through , college, job interviews,  and even your first good job until you can afford to splurge on something new to freshen your look. Mixing old pieces with new pieces does wonders.

Your closet may look bare with more expensive things but you will save more money  It’s not always about the quantity of clothes that you have in your closet, but the quality will last forever.  Sure when you show someone your closet they are in awe about all of the stuff  you have. However, if they were to dig deeper in most cases all you have is a lot of junk.

Take your time and invest in your wardrobe. Think of pieces  that can create outfits with what you have. Never go shopping for outfits. Buy pieces. More than likely the outfits will cause frustration, because you’ll think those pieces can only be worn together. Then your wardrobe has become boring. Don’t be  afraid to mix and match with pieces.  Buying more expensive clothes doesn’t  always mean you had to pay a house note for it. It could have been on the clearance rack at Neiman’s. It’s the quality of the fabric. Great fabric is stretchy  and looks great and comfortable. There is nothing worse than having 20 pairs of cheap jeans that are uncomfortable and look a mess , than having 5 pairs of nice , comfortable jeans that make you feel good and you look amazing in them.

Remember when you go shopping the next time. Cheap clothes are really expensive. You’ll buy them over and over.

Wearing A Used Wedding Gown: Is it Settling For Less?

So you’re getting married. You’ve dreamt of this day since you were 10 years old. They way your gown will look and the location of the  venue.  Oh! lets not forget about the amazing lucky guy. You’re the apple of his eye. I see you smiling in my mind. This is you isn’t it?  Yes , girl you have your hair in a beautiful updo, from a photo you cut out from a magazine 10 years ago. I know, I know.

Now things have gotten real. You’ve priced venues, flowers, cakes, decorations and this doesn’t include the honeymoon or let alone the gown.  The gown is a biggie. I’ve  always teased brides – to – be when saying no one cares or remembers what the groom had on. However, everyone will remembered the gown. It’s 90% true,  please groom; don’t test your bride. You need to look dapper. You’re part of the package.

Is there anything wrong with a used wedding gown?

It depends on who you ask. It isn’t always about if a bride can afford a new one or not. Many times it has much to do with personality type. If you’re the type who couldn’t dream of wearing a gently used wedding  gown, simply because it is much more cost effective; you aren’t going to do it.  The average cost of a wedding gown is $1,400.00, but as you probably know it can soar as high as $12,000.00 Sometimes its tough to choose a discounted gown when your heart is set on a particular style. It can be daunting to search all over the world for a certain style and get it for a reasonable price. Sometimes you want to go all out for ( you hope) this once in a lifetime occasion.  So you just buy retail. Also brides may want to experience the whole bride feeling which includes shopping for a gown the traditional way from the large retailers. Standing on a platform and modeling for the entire shop. There is no right or wrong.

When buying gently used or pre- owned, you want to make sure you know your key measurements.  Getting the right fit can be a key element since the previous bride already tailored it  to her body.  I recommend you buy up in size and have a seamstress create a custom fit. Make sure you have time to try it on and  examine the  gown  thoruoghly before purchase. Normally there isn’t a return policy on used gowns. This means you’re stuck with the dress after purchase. Look for signs of wear near the arm pits and hem line. If they look great then your probably all set to purchase. Gently used gowns will run about $300.00 – $1,000.00 .  Try small businesses that sell wedding gowns. Often times they operate a full bridal salon from the basement of their own home or have an online store. You’ll have a beautiful gown without breaking the bank.

Congratulations on your big day!

Don’t Have Your Wedding Without Those Lashes.

Have you ever heard someone say, If you have on jeans with holes  and a T-shirt, but your hair is done; you look good? Your hair moved the attention away from how  you’re dressed down you look. Really, no one noticed.

That stands for eyelashes as well. We know they are fake. Besides you’re not trying to fool anyone.  You want to look alive and what better to do it then with faux lashes on your wedding day.

Ok, we’ll be the first to admit that faux eyelashes can be a little intimidating. They’re difficult  to put on the first ten times, they seem a bit dramatic when you’re not used to them — and  they may seem to obscure  your eye sight if you aren’t use to them. Bare in mind beauty, not only includes pain, but discomfort sometimes. It’s just the way it is when you are a girl.

Get that face done, ( I hate saying beat)  it’s your special day.  Your photos will be proof you took time to enhance your beauty. The lashes instantly make you look glamorous, they don’t clump like mascara and they’re easy to remove.  Last but not least , they’re perfect for emotional times. They’ll withstand the tears. All the makeup in the world doesn’t look complete unless you have on those gorgeous falsies. It’s like mowing the lawn and forgetting to edge. Imagine it’s your wedding day. The lashes will cut the time it takes to make you look prettier. So many things can go wrong on your day. Don’t allow being late become one of them.

Lashes come in different material:

It depends on your budget and what you’re willing to spend. The most realistic are human and mink. The mink lashes are pricey. They can cost $17.00 from Mac to $35.00 from Velour lashes. You can buy a pair of human hair lashes for $5.00 at Walgreens .

False Lashes Are Healthy :

I know you’re thinking  I’m crazy.  It’s true, falsies are healthier than mascara. Falsies don’t help them grow, but they don’t disturb your lashes.  Mascara causes lashes to become brittle and weak. All of that rough housing to take off the mascara the evening after your wedding is a pain.  Most brides opt to leave it on and wake up with it all over their  pillow.

Add that special touch to your day.  You’ll look and feel so gorgeous!
