What Do Wedding Guest Care About Most?

The ceremony:   The greatest thing the guest care about. Who aren’t eager to watch the lovely couple proclaim their love?  Don’t make the ceremony too long, because guest will start to get restless. I hate to say it, but 30 minutes is roughly about all most guest can take. I know you’ve planned this for years and you picked out the perfect dress, but we are ready to move on to the next phase. That’s why a great photographer is imperative to freeze your special day.  felix-russell-saw-130503.jpgWhat about the food: Make sure your food choices are crowd pleasers, everyone is hungry and you don’t want anyone to leave early to eat else where. Besides you spent so much time with the event planner to make sure every detail of your day goes well. Be sure to offer options for those with common allergies and vegetarians. todd-cravens-250743.jpgThe drinks: Like cake and ice cream, wedding and booze goes together. Champagne, wine,  beer and 2- 3 specialty cocktails will keep guest smiling all night long. rhianon-lassila-48758.jpgThe music: Last but certainly not least. Make sure your music list is on point. Play contemporary tunes everyone is sure to know and love. Leave the oldies , but goodies in the attack. It’s not that kind of party . Remember as you have fun, keep it classy. Don’t drink and drive. mitchell-orr-179532.jpg

Cellphone Pictures Can Ruin A Brides Day.

untitled-4503-1

You should have a completely unplugged wedding. There shouldn’t be anyone with an electronic device with the exception of the hired photographers/ Videographers.

Top  10 reasons why the bride and groom shouldn’t allow camera phones, iPads and any  camera devices at the wedding:

1. Prevent ceremony from starting on time.

2. It can upset the bride

3. Guest will get in the way of the photographers job

4. The bride and groom prefers control over what is posted for the world to see

5. The wedding photos are out before the professional photographer can get them approved and posted

6. The photos didn’t provide a good depiction of the wedding

7. The photographers prefers a differentiation  between guest photos and pro photos

8. It disrupts the ceremony

9. Can upset people who weren’t invited to the wedding

10. The bride and groom would like to be the first see their wedding photos

Wedding Photos Don’t Have to be Boring.

Do wedding photos have to be so blah? I guess it depends on the personality of the bride and groom. It’s doesn’t have to be that classic church pulpit lineup. Sure, get all of the traditional couples shots. Get the ring shot, the bouquet and the first look to name a few.

Now get outside and have some fun. As a photographer you want to look for unusual places to shoot. Theses places are picturesque  and will bring attention to your album or wall images. IMG_2310

Be playful and have fun. This is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. You’ve planned this event a year in advance and now it’s time to shine.

Do You Think Spices Really Expire?

Do you ever think about the spices in your pantry at length? They’re stacked in the pantry staring at you as you open the door. There are a few that you’ve never opened. You just saw a recipe that calls for it and you bought it.  You never made the dish! How long ago was that?  Did you keep the box? Is the date stamped on the bottle?

Many spices aren’t date stamped, such as drug store the or the ones from  Dollar Tree.

McCormick has the date stamped on the bottom of the container. I found this one in my pantry. It reads Best Buy Nov. 26 07. What does that really mean. It’s best buy that date, but does it means it’s expired? Will it make you sick? untitled-1707-1

A few years after this date it will lose it’s potency. The food will not have the flavor that was intended from your McCormick spice…or any spice. Ground spices will last 3-4 years. This means I should have tossed this around 2011. Honestly when I think of how much this tiny bottle cost; I’m in denial that it has expired.

Before I go on Let me say I’m a fan of McCormick, because it’s gluten free. As a mom of a gluten intolerant child that is comforting to know.

Check your spice rack, it could be hoarding outdated spices. untitled-1696-1Make a note to clean the pantry as part of your spring cleaning. The sweet smell of apple pie or sweet potato pie doesn’t smell so good; with old nutmeg that has lost it’s kick.
