What Do Wedding Guest Care About Most?

The ceremony:   The greatest thing the guest care about. Who aren’t eager to watch the lovely couple proclaim their love?  Don’t make the ceremony too long, because guest will start to get restless. I hate to say it, but 30 minutes is roughly about all most guest can take. I know you’ve planned this for years and you picked out the perfect dress, but we are ready to move on to the next phase. That’s why a great photographer is imperative to freeze your special day.  felix-russell-saw-130503.jpgWhat about the food: Make sure your food choices are crowd pleasers, everyone is hungry and you don’t want anyone to leave early to eat else where. Besides you spent so much time with the event planner to make sure every detail of your day goes well. Be sure to offer options for those with common allergies and vegetarians. todd-cravens-250743.jpgThe drinks: Like cake and ice cream, wedding and booze goes together. Champagne, wine,  beer and 2- 3 specialty cocktails will keep guest smiling all night long. rhianon-lassila-48758.jpgThe music: Last but certainly not least. Make sure your music list is on point. Play contemporary tunes everyone is sure to know and love. Leave the oldies , but goodies in the attack. It’s not that kind of party . Remember as you have fun, keep it classy. Don’t drink and drive. mitchell-orr-179532.jpg

Wearing A Used Wedding Gown: Is it Settling For Less?

So you’re getting married. You’ve dreamt of this day since you were 10 years old. They way your gown will look and the location of the  venue.  Oh! lets not forget about the amazing lucky guy. You’re the apple of his eye. I see you smiling in my mind. This is you isn’t it?  Yes , girl you have your hair in a beautiful updo, from a photo you cut out from a magazine 10 years ago. I know, I know.

Now things have gotten real. You’ve priced venues, flowers, cakes, decorations and this doesn’t include the honeymoon or let alone the gown.  The gown is a biggie. I’ve  always teased brides – to – be when saying no one cares or remembers what the groom had on. However, everyone will remembered the gown. It’s 90% true,  please groom; don’t test your bride. You need to look dapper. You’re part of the package.

Is there anything wrong with a used wedding gown?

It depends on who you ask. It isn’t always about if a bride can afford a new one or not. Many times it has much to do with personality type. If you’re the type who couldn’t dream of wearing a gently used wedding  gown, simply because it is much more cost effective; you aren’t going to do it.  The average cost of a wedding gown is $1,400.00, but as you probably know it can soar as high as $12,000.00 Sometimes its tough to choose a discounted gown when your heart is set on a particular style. It can be daunting to search all over the world for a certain style and get it for a reasonable price. Sometimes you want to go all out for ( you hope) this once in a lifetime occasion.  So you just buy retail. Also brides may want to experience the whole bride feeling which includes shopping for a gown the traditional way from the large retailers. Standing on a platform and modeling for the entire shop. There is no right or wrong.

When buying gently used or pre- owned, you want to make sure you know your key measurements.  Getting the right fit can be a key element since the previous bride already tailored it  to her body.  I recommend you buy up in size and have a seamstress create a custom fit. Make sure you have time to try it on and  examine the  gown  thoruoghly before purchase. Normally there isn’t a return policy on used gowns. This means you’re stuck with the dress after purchase. Look for signs of wear near the arm pits and hem line. If they look great then your probably all set to purchase. Gently used gowns will run about $300.00 – $1,000.00 .  Try small businesses that sell wedding gowns. Often times they operate a full bridal salon from the basement of their own home or have an online store. You’ll have a beautiful gown without breaking the bank.

Congratulations on your big day!photo-nic-co-uk-nic-224379

Wedding Photos Don’t Have to be Boring.

Do wedding photos have to be so blah? I guess it depends on the personality of the bride and groom. It’s doesn’t have to be that classic church pulpit lineup. Sure, get all of the traditional couples shots. Get the ring shot, the bouquet and the first look to name a few.

Now get outside and have some fun. As a photographer you want to look for unusual places to shoot. Theses places are picturesque  and will bring attention to your album or wall images. IMG_2310

Be playful and have fun. This is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. You’ve planned this event a year in advance and now it’s time to shine.

A Tip for Looking Your Best on Your Wedding Day.

No, this isn’t about looking 10 pounds lighter for the camera or how to pose. It’s something I believe many women forget whether they are wearing a backless blouse or an wedding gown. I see it all of the time. I would create a thought bubble over my head if I could.

Have you ever  notice a bride wearing a lovely wedding gown; from the front the bride looks put together well.  Then you see the back of the dress  and your eyes are drawn to the distracting bra straps. It’s one of my wedding day pet peeves. Depending on the style of the gown a strapless bra will not suffice either. Please don’t wear the bra with the clear straps. The straps aren’t clear, I see reflection glaring against the skin of the bride.

Moreover, consider how low the back of the gown is designed. Yes, it’s beautiful , but much more flattering without the undesirable  straps from a bra. Your goal should be  to look  absolutely flawless on your wedding day. Take the extra time and money to look for the best suitable under garment for your gown. As soon as you say, “yes to the dress” proceed on the hunt for your perfect brasserie. It may be simple as sewing cups inside your gown. If you are large up top this may not be the solution, but it may work wonders for others.

The solution to looking stunning in your  backless wedding gown is a strapless / backless bra. There are so many out there from the cheapest to the most expensive .  Adhesive strips  are already sewn onto the bra. The more expensive the bra; the stronger the adhesive. With your cheaper bras you may get a few wears out of it before you’d have to trash it. You can wear the pricey ones if they are taken care of properly up to 25 times. Let’s see I’ve worn one on my wedding day, then again for my anniversary. That’s twice. I think it’s worth the money.

More of the brand named bras will come with silicone type sides that stick to your skin. (Be sure to test the silicone on your skin with a 2-4 hour wear test)The way it works is to make sure your skin is  dry and free from any lotions or oils. Make sure the silicone tabs aren’t sticking to your clothing. The tabs need to stick directly to your skin. You will want to hold the tabs on your side as if they were normal straps to fasten.  Be sure to hold them in an upward position for firm hold. This type of bra will cost around $ 35.00 – $50.00.   The cost for beauty is usually greater than anything less.

Your pictures will look amazing! For years to come you will not  fret over those unsightly bra straps. Remember this is your special day. untitled-4264-1untitled-4275-1
